2020. Libros Mutantes Madrid Art Book Fair

We are delighted to take part in the 2020 edition of Libros Mutantes Madrid Art Book Fair: a gathering of a wide selection of national and international art books, independent publications and zines, which attracts a wide audience. Libros Mutantes is the largest and most comprehensive Spain-based project aimed at investigating and distributing the creations of independent publishers. 'IT'S A MATCH' is the event we will put forward as part of their new 'Curated by:' programme.

Finding the perfect publisher can be as meaningful as finding the perfect partner. As with any relationship, it will come with pleasure, companionship, entertainment and most probably a few arguments and challenges. Readers & Publishers invites the audience of Libros Mutantes to find their match: that publisher that will leave you without words. During this event, participants can become familiar with the work of independent publishing and at the same time discover the publisher with books that best match the reader in search of new adventures or inspiration.

2019. Printing Plant Amsterdam Art Book Fair

We are delighted to be collaborating with Printing Plant for a second time this year. Printing Plant is an intimate three-day art book fair for like-minded, independent publishers and interested audiences, organised by Looiersgracht 60. Last year we launched Readers & Publishers, our online directory of independent publishers from across the globe, at the Printing Plant. To mark the official launch we produced ‘Open Book #1’, a bespoke publication that placed the voices of independent publishers, writers, artists and readers at centre-stage. This year we launch Open Book #2 at the second edition of Printing Plant.

Open Book #2 considers the theme of ‘publishing cultures in art education’ and began with questions/provocations provided by artists, academics, curators and publishers working in this area, including: Janneke Adema & Kaja Marczewska  (Post-publishing programme, Coventry University), Delphine Bedel, Fito Conesa, Laura Edbrook, Sophia Y. Hao and Tracy Mackenna & Edwin Janssen. Open Book #2 features responses from independent publishers listed on Readers & Publishers with keywords such as ‘art’ ‘art and critical writing’ ‘art activism’ ‘education’ or‘artist’s books’. The independent publishers’ responses will be added to and annotated by the Printing Plant audience and other stall holders during the three-day art book fair. Open Book #2 will be exhibited at the fair, and following Printing Plant, it will also exist as a digital resource on our website.
